Dear Commons Community,

The media is awash with the news that Colonel Muammar el-Qaddafi of Libya was killed yesterday by Libyan rebel forces.   As the NY Times editorial stated:  He died as he lived – violently.   A gruesome video of his death is available on Youtube.   After months of fighting and bloodshed, we can only hope that the next steps for the Libyan people to independence are peaceful.
