Tea Party or Tea Kettle Movement – Tom Friedman Column!

Dear Commons Community,

Tom Friedman has an excellent column in today’s NY Times on the Tea Party movement which he refers to as the Tea Kettle movement because it is letting off steam.   While I read his column regularly, I do not always agree with his positions.  However, this piece on the Tea Party and other issues plaguing our country and its institutions is most insightful.  I highly recommend it.  The column can be found at:

  1. Although there are a few that are reasonable, the comments section proves his point about how “politics has become just another form of sports entertainment” & “our main lawmaking institutions divided by toxic partisanship to the point of paralysis”.

If such a leader stood up (and maybe he already has) could he/she stand in the above head winds?

My argument is we’re just in an ugly period, where what he’s described as the angry middle is slowly growing, at some point, the middle needs to outshine the marginals, then such a leader can have an effect. Resonate even.
